Turkish Petrol Ofisi Grand Prix - 9. 19. 11 May 2008 (Istanbul)

Sunday Race (11 May 2008)
Felipe Massa said that he owned the circuit when he came here and today I prooved the point by making it his third successive win here at the Istanbul Park and was probably worthy of the title "Driver of the day". His engineer Rob Smedly said after the race "this makes him World Championship ,material" reinforcing Michael Schumacher´s comments earlier this year that the Brazilian should not be dismissed. Lewis Hamilton made a good start tucking in behind the Massa running on the harder of the two tyre compounds. Heikki Kovalainen made a bad start and had the misfortune of touch the rear of Kimi Räikkönen going into the first corner and had to come in after the first lap with a punture, the Finn being demoted to last and eventually working his way up to finish 12th. Not so fortunate into the first corner were Kazuki Nakajima with Giancarlo Fisichella outbraking himself and going into the rear of the Japanese driver, both drivers having to retire on the spot. This was the third time for the Italian at this corner in 3 years!

Hamilton came in surprisingly early for his first pit stop putting on another set of hard rubber, but did not manage to leapfrog Massa with this pit stop. Afterwards he managed to move out of the Ferrari slip stream and in a neat overtaking manouvre overtake Felipe. The Brazilian sensibly took avoiding action and maintained his second position his engineer advising him that it was thought that Lewis was on a 3 stop strategy. Felipe Massa managed to recover his position which he was to hold until the end of the race, Lewis Hamilton coming out just ahead of
Kimi Räikkönen after his last pit stop with the soft compound that he did not like, the Finn chasing him all the way to the chequered flog, Robert Kubica BMW did not put in the expected challange and team mate Nick Heidfeld quitely worked his way up to finish behind him ahead of Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg taking the last point for Williams.

Saturday Qualifiying (10 May 2008)
Felipe Massa has taken pole position for the Turkish Grand Prix for the third year in succession, with Heikki Kovalainen bouncing back from his high speed Barcelona accident and the second McLaren of Lewis Hamilton taking third spot after changing to a hard compound, the soft rubber giving him oversteer. Kimi Raikkonen could only manage fourth fastest but must not be ruled out tomorrow. Red Bull have both Mark Webber (5th) and David Coulthard (10th) in the top ten tomorrow,
